In a video recorded by DCI Palestine, a twelve year old girl named Zeina describes a childhood without her father. When she was fifteen days old, her father, Majd Abu al-Muntaser, was arrested by Israeli police for protesting a new Israeli housing development in Ras al Amud, a Jerusalem neighbourhood. He was sent to the Jalbou’ prison, one that the Palestine Center for Human Rights has noted for its harsh and inhumane conditions. Zeina described the difficulties of life without her father, but expressed hope and enthusiasm for his release from prison – she will be twenty years old when her father is freed. She says that she can “excel at school […] so that when dad is released he would be proud of [her] and [she] would be his pride and joy”.
