DNI cree que toda iniciativa para erradicar el trabajo infantil debe abordar el problema de\u00a0ra\u00edz, es decir, debe orientarse hacia erradicar la pobreza, y hacer especial hincapi\u00e9 en el derecho a la educaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=\u00bb1\/1&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En todo el mundo, la brecha que existe entre ricos y pobres ha aumentado en las \u00faltimas d\u00e9cadas y ha obligado a millones de ni\u00f1os a abandonar la escuela para trabajar. La Organizaci\u00f3n Internacional del Trabajo estima que <strong>215 millones de ni\u00f1os entre las edades de 5 y 17 a\u00f1os trabajan actualmente en condiciones ilegales, peligrosas o de extrema explotaci\u00f3n<\/strong>. En muchos lugares del mundo, los ni\u00f1os trabajan en\u00a0todo tipo de empleos, debido a que, por lo general, tanto\u00a0ellos como sus familias viven en una situaci\u00f3n de extrema pobreza. Un gran n\u00famero de ni\u00f1os trabaja en la agricultura comercial, la pesca, la miner\u00eda, la manufactura y el servicio dom\u00e9stico. Algunos ni\u00f1os trabajan en actividades il\u00edcitas como el tr\u00e1fico de drogas y la prostituci\u00f3n u otras actividades traum\u00e1ticas como servir como soldados.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el pasado, DNI impuls\u00f3 una campa\u00f1a llamada <em><a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/campaign-no-kids-without-education\/\" target=\"_blank\">Ni un ni\u00f1o, ni\u00f1a y adolescente sin educaci\u00f3n: \u00a1Hagamos la diferencia!<\/a><\/em> para promover una educaci\u00f3n inclusiva con el fin de abordar la cuesti\u00f3n.\u00a0El objetivo de esta campa\u00f1a era garantizar que el 100% de los ni\u00f1os y adolescentes trabajadores en edad escolar ejercieran efectivamente su derecho a tener una educaci\u00f3n completa y de calidad.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Varias Secciones Nacionales de DNI trabajan activamente para combatir el trabajo infantil como forma de explotar a los ni\u00f1os, en particular cuando les impide disfrutar de sus derechos fundamentales.<\/p>\n<p>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=\u00bb2\/3&#8243;][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recientemente, DNI ha empezado\u00a0a trabajar con otras ONGs en actividades de cabildeo para <strong>promover la ratificaci\u00f3n<\/strong> del<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/international-organizations-call-for-ratification-of-ilo-treaty\/\" target=\"_blank\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/international-organizations-call-for-ratification-of-ilo-treaty\/\" target=\"_blank\"> Convenio N\u00ba 189 de la OIT<\/a> sobre el trabajo decente para las trabajadoras y los trabajadores dom\u00e9sticos. Este instrumento no es solamente un gran avance en materia de derechos laborales, sino una<strong> nueva herramienta para proteger a la infancia y, adem\u00e1s, tiene el potencial para mejorar las vidas de los cerca de 15 millones de ni\u00f1os, en su mayor\u00eda ni\u00f1as, que trabajan en servicios dom\u00e9sticos en todo el mundo<\/strong>. Suelen trabajar 12 horas o m\u00e1s diarias, siete d\u00edas a la semana, cocinando, limpiando, lavando y ocup\u00e1ndose de los ni\u00f1os de sus empleadores. El trabajo forzado y el tr\u00e1fico no es raro, y su aislamiento en casas privadas los expone a un riesgo particular de explotaci\u00f3n y violencia, incluido el abuso sexual.
