{"id":2176,"date":"2020-05-08T10:16:01","date_gmt":"2020-05-08T09:16:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/resources\/roundup\/"},"modified":"2020-05-08T18:04:45","modified_gmt":"2020-05-08T17:04:45","slug":"hrcroundups","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/es\/recursos\/informes-publicados\/hrcroundups\/","title":{"rendered":"Human Rights Council Roundups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>The Human Rights Council (HRC) is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system made up of 47 States responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the world.\u00a0 Held three times per year in Geneva, the Human Rights Council is a unique opportunity for us to advocate directly towards Member States on various child rights issues.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #7a277d;\">Why do we need to be there?<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em>As part of our advocacy efforts, and with the Consultative Status DCI is granted with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), we deliver a number of statements during each session meant to target the most pressing concerns before Member States. DCI intervenes regarding the situation of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/dcis-40-years-fighting-for-childrens-rights\/\">rights of the child<\/a>\u00a0in countries where a DCI National Section is present, or for other thematic issues such as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/violence-against-children-2\/\">Violence against Children<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/children-affected-by-armed-conflict\/\">children and armed conflict<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/thematic-areas-2\/children-on-the-move\/\">children on the move<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/defenceforchildren.org\/children-deprived-of-liberty\/\">children deprived of their liberty<\/a>. \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_15336\"
