Defence for Children International Publishes Annual Report 2024–2025
Defence for Children International (DCI) is proud to share its Annual Report 2024–2025, highlighting our collective achievements, challenges, and vision for advancing children’s rights worldwide.
This year’s report reflects on a period marked by unprecedented global challenges, including record levels of grave violations against children in armed conflict. Despite these obstacles, the DCI Movement strengthened its work across four continents, reaffirming its commitment to justice for children everywhere.
Key highlights include:
Global Conference on Justice for Children Deprived of Liberty (Geneva, December 2024), gathering 150 participants from 50+ countries and 25 child and youth leaders.
The adoption of the Roadmap for Action on Children Deprived of Liberty (2025–2030).
Expansion of Socio-Legal Defence Centres (SLDCs) in the MENA and African regions, ensuring access to justice and protection for vulnerable children.
Continued leadership in child participation, gender equality, and safeguarding, empowering young people as advocates for change.
Launch of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) Guidelines across all Sections.
This report also marks the 45th anniversary of DCI, the 35th anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, and the 5th anniversary of the UN Global Study on Children Deprived of Liberty.
