DCI Statement Urges International Accountability to Protect the Rights of Palestinian Children at HRC58

Delivered at the Interactive Dialogue on the High Commissioner's Reports on the Occupied Palestinian Territory during the 58th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC58).

On 28 February, 2025, Defence for Children International delivered a statement during the 58th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, Switzerland. The statement highlights the lack of international accountability for perpetrators of violence against Palestinian children.

For decades, Israeli forces have systematically killed Palestinian children in huge numbers without consequences, and yet, there have been no meaningful measures of accountability for perpetrators.

In response, we strongly urge all member states to:

  • Hold perpetrators accountable through fair investigations conducted by the International Court of Justice and International Criminal Court.
  • Require that Israeli authorities abide by their ratification of the Conventions on the Rights of the Child to protect Palestinian children’s rights.
