DCI at the Canadian House of Commons

The director of DCI has been invited to brief the Canadian House of Commons on a special hearing regarding the Vulnerabilities created and exacerbated by the COVID-19 Pandemic. Beyond DCI, Amnesty International-Canada and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) were invited to this hearing of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Development (FAAE). DCI invited as a witness raised particularly the impact of the Pandemic  to violence against children, to justice for children and to children deprived of liberty as well as to the importance to associate children in the decisions in the context of the pandemic that concern them.

An interesting debate with the Canadian members of the House of Commons followed including other issues, such as repatriation of Canadian children from Northern Syria on which DCI has adopted a clear position in favour of repatriation already in 2020.
