Ahed Tamimi trial: The conditions of detention of Palestinian children in Israel, interview of DCI – Palestine

On February 13th 2017, our National Section in Palestine has been interviewed on the conditions of detention of Palestinian children in Israel, notably in regards to the trial that is currently under process for the 16 year old Palestininan child Ahed Tamimi.

Ayed Abu Eqtaish, Accountability Programme Director from DCI – Palestine was interviewed on the rights of  Palestinian children undergoing trial or in Israeli detention centers. DCI – Palestine also expressed DCI’s standpoint on the issue of Ahed Tamimi’s trial.

“In the Military Legal System there is no fair trial rights. There is a complete lack of fair trial rights from the beginning to the arrest of Palestinian children and during their transfer to Israeli interrogation centers and during the interrogation itself […] ”

“Israel arrests children as a way to suppress and control Palestinians who are living under occupation. The majority of Palestininan children who are arrested are arrested from friction points where the Israelis have settlements expansion […] ”
